  Therapy Dog Presentation for Meridian Library Memory Cafe

Caregivers of Memory patients gather to monthly to learn about resources to help them as they care for friends or relatives with memory issues.   We will talk about the care and compassion a therapy dog brings when visiting memory patients.

Join the superheroes! Annual Healing Paws therapy dog teams' booth event and Trick Team performance to support The Children's Tumor Foundation's fundraiser to raise money to End NF (Neurofibramatosis).

Camp Hodia Shooting Stars Day Camp

Healing Paws therapy dog teams visit the children during camp to share our dogs' unconditional love.  See Bernie at camp.

Meridian Library-Summer Reading Kick-Off

This booth event was  at Settlers Park from 5-9 pm.   Our therapy dog teams were available to read with children and promote the summer reading program.  Click here for photos of the event.

Northwest Pet Truck Load Event

We loaded up on pet food and supplies during the truck load event.  There were severals booths in the parking lot with all sorts of pet supplies and services.   Helping Idaho Dogs' booth had lots of visitors who stopped by and said hello to our volunteers with four paws.  Click here to view pictures of the event.

Timberline High School Stress Relief

Finals can be stressful for all.  Our therapy dogs werein the library during lunch period during finals week to offer loves and hugs to all.   See photos

May 17, 2018

 Families United

This combined Healing Paws/Humane Education event was at Whittier Elementary from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Helping Idaho Dogs had a booth at the event.  Our teams shared pets and wags with several of the children.

 

 

April 19 - May 10, 2018 

Healing Paws at Eagle Middle School

Our therapy dog teams provided stress relief for students at Eagle Middle School in Eagle during their state exam weeks.   Research has shown that interacting with a dog can reduce the stress students feel prior to beginning testing.

Humane Education at Whitney Elementary

Our Humane Education team presented dog safety tips to children during the Friday Focus hour.   Many of the children had pets at home and had experienced being bitten.   Learning to understand dog behavior will help prevent future issues.   Click here for photos of our HE events.

April 30 - May 4, 2018

BSU Finals Stress Relief

Several of our therapy dog teams joined other therapy dogs from the Boise area to provide wags, pets, and encouragement to students throughout the BSU campus during finals week.  See photos.

Human Education At Meridian Library

 Twelve children and several parents participated in a Humane Education presentation at Meridian Library.  Children practiced petting Blaze and Bernie at the end of the presentation.   Click here for photos of HE events.

 Family Literacy - Read to Paws

  Ustick Elementary is hosting a Read to Paws night from 5:30 - 7:30 pm with an opportunity for children to practice reading skills with one of our wonder therapy dogs.

Humane Education at Eagle Public Library

Our Human Education teams taught parents and children how to approach and pet a dog safely.  Learning to correctly approach a dog will help reduce the number of children bitten by family pets as well as stranger dogs.   Click here to view photos of our HE events.

Walking on Different Surfaces

Our therapy teams participate in on-going training four times a year to keep our therapy skills current.   We will refresh our  skills of walking on slick floors, and other unusual surfaces we encounter in therapy events.  Click here for photos and video of training.

 Loose Leash Walking

Garden City Library - Humane Education Presentations

We held 2 separate Humane Education  presentations - one for preschoolers and one for school age children.

The children learned compassion and responsibility related to what a dog needs, a dog's feelings, and how to be safe around a dog. The kids became very involved, and we had a lot of fun teaching them! At the end, the children practiced safe petting on our therapy dog teams of Carol & Bernie, Jennifer & Cody and Matt & Zoe.
