Fundamentals of Our Dog Training Program
The training principles held by our volunteers are a combination of the best from both the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) "C.L.A.S.S.™" tool and the American Kennel Club's "Canine Good Citizen" (CGC) program. During our events and outreach, we work with you at the level best suited to you and your dog.
At its core, "C.L.A.S.S.™" is an educational tool; it provides resources and promotes dog-training methods that focus on using positive reinforcement and building relationships and communication between dog and owner.
"C.L.A.S.S.™" and the APDT offer these educational resources freely to pet owners, the veterinary community, the general public, shelters, and dog trainers. Additional educational tools for dog trainers include curriculum ideas for teaching "C.L.A.S.S.™" skills. The C.L.A.S.S.™ Student Handbook is another source of information.
