Volunteer

Do you have a particular skill or passion that you would like to share? Do you love dogs? Do you want to help others?

Volunteering with Helping Idaho Dogs is a rewarding way of giving back to our community. You do not have to own a dog to be able to participate! Consider volunteering in one of these areas:

Humane Education Program:

We would love to hear from you if you have a passion and commitment towards educating the public about Humane Education! Our volunteers help people become aware of how to treat dogs and build a strong relationship with their pet dogs. We welcome people with or without prior experience in providing education, whether you are a retired or current school teacher, veterinarian professionals or someone with the passion to help!

Below are a few areas where we need volunteers:

  • Training,

  • Assisting with training,

  • Building community partners,

  • Researching and contacting locations for presentations, and

  • Scheduling or other administrative tasks.

Therapy Dog Program:

Help us support the good work that our therapy dog teams provide! This could include such activities as:

  • Working with community partners to arrange visits and events,

  • Managing the schedules of our therapy dog teams,

  • Finding new locations for teams to visit or to hold practices,

  • Responding to emails and phone messages,

  • Meeting with new and interested people,

  • Scheduling team meetings, and everything in-between!

 Events Program:

Our Events Program provides educational seminars, classes, workshops and other events for our volunteers and the public. There are many ways that volunteers can  help make events successful, such as:

  • Managing events - organizing and scheduling events,

  • Setting up/taking down booths and table displays,

  • Building relationships with our volunteers and community partners,

  • Assisting with administrative tasks,

  • Marketing, and

  • Fundraising.

These are just a few examples of what you could do as a volunteer! If you would like to learn more about volunteering opportunities, contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
