Teri and Hailey
Teri and her family were looking for a dog to help them and their other lab heal from the grief of losing their 4-year old lab. Hailey was a retired show dog and had been returned to her breeder, due to circumstances beyond her control. She was 7 years old and had been in 3 different homes in 3 weeks; now she was looking for her forever home.
As soon as Teri’s family met her, they knew that Hailey had found her forever home and they had found their Mender of Hearts. One look into Hailey’s eyes and you know that she is a special dog who was put on earth to help others.
Hailey was the first Helping Idaho Dogs therapy dog to receive her Therapy Dog, Inc. registration. She has since then passed her Canine Good Citizen and become a Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) team.
You can usually find Hailey and Teri at Shadow Butte Elementary once a month. She loves seeing the children and greets each one of them all with the best tail wags ever.
When Hailey is not doing therapy work, she loves sleeping on the couch, going for walks, and hunting with Teri’s husband - not all in that order.
